What is Contingent Recruitment? Contingent recruitment is when an agency takes on a permanent job vacancy from a client and seeks to fill the position by leveraging their connections, database and access to candidates to present the client with a selection of candidates to interview for the role. If a placement is subsequently made, the agency charges the client a fee, or in the case of a temporary worker, a margin for finding the candidate for them. That said, there is no outright commitment from either side to see the hiring process through to the end, unlike with a retained search. The reason for this is that in contingent recruitment the client may be using any number of agencies to fill a role, so there is no particular incentive for any one recruiter to focus on that role. What sort of Vacancies are filled with Contingent Recruitment? Contingent can work reasonably well with vacancies that are mid-level in terms of skill required and where there are likely to be many qualified candidates to shortlist for the position. This could also be due to location, as for example, a vacancy in a large conurbation is likely to have more candidates available than a role in a remote rural area. How does Contingent Recruitment work with ProTech? We agree fees up front with clients. Permanent fees are based upon the candidate's salary and are payable on the candidates start date. Temporary rates quoted are inclusive of National Insurance Contributions, Annual Leave and Workplace Pension payments. Once we have agreed the job details, we get to work looking for the ideal candidate for the client. Contact and relationships are important to us which is why we always prefer to meet with the client in person, so as to gain a better understanding of the role and the environment in which the new recruit is going to be working. We will be in ongoing communication with the client to ensure their needs are being met and to understand their requirements, especially if they develop or change during the process. What are the Advantages of Contingent Recruitment? The main benefit for a client looking to hire using a contingent process is that there is no financial commitment and they will only pay once there is a successful placement. What are the Downsides of Contingent Recruitment? The client can utilise multiple agencies although this is not always necessarily in the clients best interests. Recruiters working on a contingent basis know that they are in competition with other recruiters and if they know that a client has employed several agencies for their recruitment campaign then the recruiter is disincentivised to them to treat the vacancy as a high priority. In these circumstances it is possible for recruiters to commit a lot of effort to search for the perfect candidate but have another agency make a placement in the meantime. The opposition may not have taken the time and effort required to complete a proper screening process and may 'win' simply by being fastest due to them cutting corners in the process. Why should that matter to the hirer? Well it may not, but don't expect much (if any) loyalty back from the recruiter and it will certainly be difficult to build a great working relationship over the long-term. How do ProTech succeed with their clients using Contingent Recruitment? Where ProTech have had most success with contingent recruitment is when we work in partnership with our clients and have built a long-standing relationships where we fully understand the way that the client's business operates and can therefore better match candidates to their requirements. There is a mutual understanding between us and our long-term clients in the sense that we understand what they will need and they understand that we go out of our way to make sure they receive the best candidates available. This comes from working together over time and putting the time into the relationship to understand each other's business. In these circumstances ProTech has a strong advantage over the opposition due to the understanding of the clients business and relationship with the hirer that has built-up over many years.

Contingent

What is Contract Recruitment? Put simply, contract recruitment is the provision of a worker on a short or longer-term basis. This can be either for a specific role or project, or for a fixed time period or for open-ended time period. Many of the clients that ProTech Recruitment work with will have a short-term need for a worker where they don't want to take on a permanent employee as there is insufficient long-term need for this but there is nonetheless an immediate requirement for a worker to come and provide work services. This could be for a number of potential reasons, eg due to a project over-running, covering annual leave, covering or a period of long-term sickness, maternity leave, someone leaving the business at short notice and/or a sudden increase in the amount of work coming in that requires a rapid increase in head-count to manage it. In this instance a business could look to recruit a contract worker who would be engaged on the assignment for a defined period of time, enabling the business to continue hitting production deadlines or other targets and ensuring that there is sufficient workforce to achieve all the business's objectives. Before ProTech supplies any contract or temporary workers they will work closely with the client to confirm the brief before then identifying the right candidate(s) to fulfil their requirements. Once the right person has started work the worker will submit their hours worked each week to the hirer for authorisation which will be ProTech's authority to pay the worker and bill the client for the hours worked. Whilst the worker is working at a client site they remain under the full supervision and control of the client, meaning that the client is able to best direct them as appropriate to ensure that their workload is covered. The rate paid by the client includes all statutory payments ie employers National Insurance Contributions, Workplace Pension Contributions, Holiday Pay etc, allowing the client to focus primarily on their day-job. When would you use Contract Recruitment services? There are a wide variety of reasons why a company may wish to do so.&nbsp; For instance, a permanent employee who is either highly skilled or very senior could leave the business and in order to replace them long term it may be appropriate to employ a temporary worker whilst looking for the long term replacement. A temporary worker would allow someone fully qualified to take over the role while a retained or contingent search could be undertaken for a new permanent employee. Alternatively, the business may have secured a large project of work and will need additional resource to ensure they can deliver on time.&nbsp;There can also be shifts in demand throughout the year which can impact upon businesses where employing a contract work force can effectively help them manage these periods effectively. For example, during the 2020 pandemic <a href="https://www.pro-tech.co.uk/insights/latest-news/protech-recruitment-ltd-and-smiths-group-plc-combine-in-fight-against-covid-19/">ProTech supplied Smiths Medical with contract workers</a>. SmithsMedical were a part of the <a href="https://www.ventilatorchallengeuk.com/">#VentilatorChallengeUK</a> and as the pandemic worsened considerably over a short amount of time, they were tasked by the UK Government to ramp up production of their patented ventilators to help save the lives of many UK citizens. Due to this requirement, they required a large number of highly skilled workers at short notice and would be unsure exactly how long they would need to maintain production of the ventilators and therefore keep the workers employed. The partnership with ProTech Recruitment allowed them a flow of highly skilled workers to keep up pace with the manufacturing of the ventilators but with the flexibility to increase or decrease their number of contract or temporary workers depending on the flexing circumstances. What are the advantages of contract recruitment? <ul> <li>Creates a flexible workforce</li> <li>Contractors can be turned 'on' and 'off' quickly to match fluctuating demand or circumstances unlike permanent employees.</li> <li>The client is only required to pay for the duration that they have the contractor which can be highly effective if there is a solid understanding on the length and breadth of work.</li> <li>Allows the client to manage their cash flow effectively over time, in periods of uncertainty or low work they can easily reduce the number of contractors</li> <li>ProTech can offer full project cycle cover to their clients, from research and development all the way to manufacturing and production</li> <li>Contractors can bring highly skilled industry expertise</li> <li>Client will have no increased permanent head count</li> </ul> Why use ProTech for your contract recruitment needs? ProTech have over 30 years of contract recruitment experience and have knowledgeable recruiters with over 100 years combined technical recruitment experience. This amount of time in the market has enabled ProTech to develop a 200,000+ strong candidate pool so we can reach out to candidates immediately to discuss potential openings due to our prior contact with them. Plus, we've worked with some of our clients for over 30 years, demonstrating that not only are we great at what we do, but that we stay on top of changes in the market and in the culture of temporary and contract workers to continue to provide workers effectively for all of our clients. We have two dedicated teams focusing on Engineering and Technical and Life Sciences recruitment with strong and specific industry experience. Taking Away the Admin Burden Workers will simply complete a weekly timesheet, either online or on paper as preferred by the client. The client then confirm that the hours have been worked satisfactorily and from that point onwards ProTech dealing with the entire pay and bill process including making all statutory deductions and payments to HMRC. Our payroll and accounts team is 'in-house', enabling us to provide a personal service to workers and clients, allowing the worker and the client to focus on the work in hand at the client site itself. How does Retained Search differ from other types of Recruitment such as Contingent? Retained Search (also known as executive search or headhunting) differs from contingent recruitment in that the recruiter focuses specifically on the role they are recruiting for in exchange for exclusivity with the client. With contingent recruitment a client may have utilised the services of several different recruitment agencies to look for the most suitable candidates. While on the face of it, this might lead you to believe that the client will end up with more candidates and therefore a larger recruitment pool, this doesn't always necessarily follow. Recruiters working on a contingent basis know that they are in competition with other recruiters and if they know that a client has employed several agencies for their recruitment campaign then the recruiter is disincentivised to them to treat the vacancy as a high priority. The hirer gives the recruitment agency exclusivity over the search for the candidate(s) and in return, the recruitment consultancy dedicates specific time and effort into the search for the ideal candidate for the client's vacancy. Quite often retained search is used when a role is hard to fill or requires a specific skill set or when a level of trust and high quality of service has been built up between the company and the recruitment consultancy and they want to build on and enhance that relationship and essentially contract out their recruitment hiring process to a specialist consultancy. Ultimately, retained search can often be about seeking out those candidates that aren't currently actively looking for work and attracting them into a new opportunity that they may not have considered otherwise. This is something that a dedicated retained specialist recruitment consultancy can do well, and provides the very best people available to meet the client's expectations. What do ProTech offer as their Retained Search? ProTech can offer a full executive retained search service. This is a tailored service for hirers to find the most suitable people for the key roles they are recruiting for. The hiring company are provided a Project Manager by ProTech as their own personal 'one-to-one recruiter' to liaise with throughout the selection, interviewing, offer and on-boarding process. Together with a team of dedicated researchers, your ProTech Project Manager will dedicate exclusive specific blocks of time to working the role and working hard to uncover the talent needed to satisfy the clients' needs. The client is given weekly progress updates with an exact overview of how the search for their candidates is progressing. They are provided a progress report showing all the different candidates contacted, with information on how each has been progressed so far. This includes candidates that have been ruled out of the search, those that are pending and those currently of interest. Notes are provided next to all candidates with the reasons why they are excluded/included in the search to provide detailed feedback and information to the client. Over time the Project Manager will also provide market information based upon the feedback received from all potential candidates spoken to. This might include a review of the job description, or a re-focus could be suggested to ensure that the right candidate is found for the role. ProTech may be able to offer the hirer advice or information regarding why the search is not working as expected and suggest changes that could make the role more attractive to candidates. Perhaps the salary isn&rsquo;t quite at the market rate, rival companies are offering better conditions, or the location of the business requires more incentive for a candidate to relocate. It could also be because the job requires a very specific skillset which is not commonly available. The Project Manager will be able to review this data and provide the client with a summary on the search for their candidate and offer tailored advice specific to them. Ultimately at ProTech, we know the market, so we will only accept a retained search where our expertise can ensure the best results. And we are honest. If we can't deliver, we'll have a straight up conversation on the weekly call with the client and inform them of the reasons why. The watchword is transparency all the way through with the client and working together as a team towards the end goal. If the hirer would like us to steer in a different direction, they can tell us that, just as much as we would tell them. Everything is about ensuring the optimum effort for the optimum candidate and ultimately the client receives 100% commitment from ProTech because we know we are getting 100% commitment from them. In any retained search that we undertake, ProTech are relentless in our approach. If a potential candidate could be a perfect match, then repeated attempts will be made to contact them through different channels to then ultimately rule them in or out of the process. Literally no stone will be left unturned in our executive search. Also, ProTech are only paid for the work that we do, so if half way through the process the client decides that they would like to take a different direction or use a different consultancy then payment is only made for the work undertaken to that stage. Why should I use ProTech for an Retained Search? ProTech can deal with all the applications and advertise the job through the clients own name rather than our own, or it can be done completely confidentially. ProTech will then field all of the calls and emails and other message channels, qualify all of the candidates, get together a shortlist before sending the absolute best candidates through to the client to recommend for interview. Essentially, we can look after every facet of the hiring process for the client from start to completion, leaving the client to focus purely on the interview process and deciding which candidate will be a great fit for them. ProTech can be flexible to the clients requirements. It may well be that a highly skilled person leaves your business and needs to be immediately replaced due to importance, but that the long term hire to replace them needs&nbsp;&nbsp;to be absolutely right. In these circumstances it could be that ProTech provide a replacement staff member on a contract basis who can competently perform the role, while undertaking an executive search for their long term replacement. When ProTech are engaged on a retained search we are laser focused and ruthlessly efficient in meeting the expectations of our clients. Solderer

We're seeking a hands-on and motivated Test Engineer to join their Service &amp; Operations team and contribute to the installation, commissioning, and testing of their cutting-edge electromechanical systems. As a Test Engineer, you'll be responsible for both in-house testing and on-site project support. From setting up test rigs to fault finding and customer site commissioning, you'll play a critical role in ensuring their systems meet the highest performance standards. This role will involve quite a bit of site work, so you must be willing and able to travel across the UK at short notice for 3-4 days at a time. All costs will be covered, and a sustenance payment of £60/day will also be claimable. Test Engineer

<h1>Surrey</h1><h1>Up to £40,000pa</h1> <h2>Overview:</h2>We are seeking a skilled CNC / Manual Machinist to join our team and support the daily activities of our production department. The role involves servicing and repairing injection moulding tools, as setting and operating various manual and CNC machines<h2> </h2><h2>Responsibilities:</h2><ul><li>Carry out repairs, modifications, machining, and servicing of injection moulding tools and associated tooling.</li><li>Perform daily servicing and cleaning of mould tools, documenting work and completing electronic records.</li><li>Setting and Operating a mixture of CNC and Manual machines, including Grinders, Lathes, and Mills</li><li>Assist in equipment repairs and breakdowns as needed.</li><li>Maintain a clean and safe working environment.</li></ul><h2> </h2><h2>Qualifications:</h2><ul><li>Solid experience in prototype, low volume high precision machining.</li><li>Proficiency in manual and CNC machine tools such as Surface Grinder, VMC, Milling, and Centre Lathe.</li><li>C&amp;G / NVQ 3 in mechanical engineering or equivalent - Mechanical Engineering / toolmaker apprenticeship, with experience in injection moulding tools preferred.</li><li>Any experience of programming CNC machines would be beneficial but not essential - training will be provided.</li></ul><h2> </h2><h2>Day-to-day:</h2><ul><li>Servicing and repairing injection moulding tools.</li><li>Setting and Operating CNC and Manual machines</li><li>Documenting service and repair work.</li><li>Assisting in equipment repairs and breakdowns.</li><li>Maintaining a clean and safe working environment.</li></ul> If you are a proactive and skilled Manual or CNC Machinist with a strong attention to detail, we encourage you to apply and join our team.
